The Concept 2000 Mr. Musical calculator, model 560, is a unique device that combines the functionality of a basic calculator with additional features aimed at entertainment and education. Released in 1979 and manufactured in Hong Kong, this calculator is designed to appeal to the toy market with its playful robot-shaped case.

The calculator measures 84.5mm x 178mm x 40mm (width x height x depth) and weighs 190g, excluding batteries but including the carrying strap. It is powered by a single 9V DC PP3 size battery, with a clear instruction on the battery compartment to use only fresh alkaline batteries. The calculator does not support the use of an adaptor.
The case is made of two-piece silver matte plastic, molded into the shape of a robot. The raised areas of the face and arms are painted black, which may be subject to wear over time. Below the face, there is a silver sticker with blue, red, and black markings, sitting in its own recess. The display is an 8+1 digit red LED with a bubble lens, slightly protruding from the case surface. The recessed keyboard surround features black printed text, and the lower logo is in red printed text. A white carry strap is attached to the top of the head for easy portability. The keys are soft-touch, providing no feedback click when pressed.

Internally, the calculator is composed of several key components:
- A Texas Instruments TMS1000NLL MP3206 DCS 7936 CPU, dated week 36 of 1979.
- A Texas Instruments SN75498N IC.
- A 9-digit LED display unit with an integrated bubble lens, manufactured by Texas Instruments.
- One transistor, two capacitors, 17 resistors, and a low-profile, moving coil, permanent magnet speaker.
The main circuit board, labeled 560M, is positioned on top of the keyboard assembly, supported by plastic pillars and a screw. It is connected to the keyboard assembly by nine thin wires and a 15-way ribbon cable. The keyboard is secured to the front of the case with four screws, and the display sits loose, connected via 17 wires. Disassembly is straightforward: remove the single screw from the back and gently pry off the back cover.

Logic:
- The (CE) key cancels an entry.
- The (C) key clears the entire calculator.
- The calculator can function as a standard four-function calculator.
- It includes a “math question and answer” mode for educational purposes.
- It features a “music” mode with 10 different notes, played using the 0 to 9 keys.

The Concept 2000 Mr. Musical calculator is a versatile device that offers basic calculator functions along with educational and musical features, making it an interesting addition to the toy and calculator market of its time.
